New Study Shows Electronic Cigarettes May Help Unmotivated Smokers Cut Down or Quit, Says Square

Square has long believed that their disposable electronic cigarettes can—and do—help people cut down or even stop smoking cigarettes. That idea was recently supported in an Italian study posted on the BMC Public Health website, according to a new article by the American Counsel of Science and Health (ACSH).

The ACSH article states that electronic cigarettes stood up favorably in this first clinical trial. Results indicate that the electronic devices may not only be more effective than traditional nicotine replacement therapies (NRT) at helping people who want to quit smoking; e-cigarettes may also help cigarette smokers reduce their smoking—even those who express no interest in kicking the habit.

The small clinical trial was conducted on 40 healthy adults, who smoked regularly and had no expressed intention of quitting. Intervention was limited to providing each smoker in the study group electronic cigarettes and conducting a baseline assessment and four follow-up clinic visits. fashion jackets The smokers were simply told to use the e-cigarettes as they pleased—but were not instructed to quit smoking regular cigarettes.

Over the next six months, 22.5 percent of the participants reported that they had completely quit smoking. Another 32.5 percent reported that they had cut down their cigarette consumption by at least half. In sum, over half of the smokers were able to quit or significantly cut down their cigarette use. This outcome is especially impressive, according to the article, considering that the six-month quit rate for approved cessation aids is well below 20 percent—and those results are derived from smokers who want to quit and are followed closely in a clinical setting.

"This trial simulated a real-life experience, where no motivation or support was offered to subjects to quit smoking," said ACSH advisor Dr. Mike Siegel, professor at Boston University's School of Public Health. "This could well be groundbreaking." Siegel indicated that he is excited to see the results of more extensive clinical trials, particularly involving subjects who are motivated to quit, stating, "I am confident that the success rate will be significantly higher."

Moving from regular cigarettes to e-cigs can be a good health move. Jean-Fran?ois Etter, a researcher at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine in Geneva was recently quoted as stating that even though fake cigarettes still contain nicotine, smokers who use them "are not exposed to some 4,000 toxic substances present in tobacco cigarettes."

Square 82 e-cigarettes are becoming a popular smoking alternative because they feel a lot like inhaling cigarette smoke—yet only water vapor with little to no aroma is dispelled. The product does not produce dangerous secondhand smoke or stink up the room or clothes or breath. They can be used almost anywhere.

"I have always wanted to quit smoking so I thought I would give this a try," said Lisa, a Square 82 reviewer on squaresmoke.com. "I bought my 1st one 6 weeks ago. I smoke about 2 packs a day. I have not smoked a cigarette in 6 weeks. Square is awesome and its lasts about 4 or 5 days before I have to buy another one. Thanks s Squaresmoke!"

Lead by Entrepreneur Beth Stollman, Local Businessmen and Women Organize Charity Dinner to Raise Money for East African Famine Appeal

The fundraising event was held in San Diego, California and proved to be a huge success. Beth Stollman, a local entrepreneur who runs a successful online clothing retail business, organized the event after seeing on television the plight of the people affected by the famine in East Africa. The dinner and social mixer hosted more than 200 local business people and residents and raised more than $30,000 from ticket sales alone, plus an undisclosed sum from further contributions made throughout the evening. Beth Stollman estimates that more than $45,000 was raised in total.

"I saw news footage about the crises on the TV and felt I just had to do something" comments organizer, Beth Stollman. Having lived and worked in San Diego for the past 20 years, Stollman decided to utilize the resources she had most easily available to her – business connections in the San Diego area - and arrange an event that would bring them all together. "I wanted to offer something that would be appealing to the people donating, rather than just asking them flat out for donations. A dinner and social mixer provided a great opportunity for local business people to network with each other, while raising money for the appeal at the same time".

Beth Stollman has been involved in various charitable ventures in recent years. This event was the first one she was responsible for initiating. She arranged the venue, caterers and music. "Local businesses were more than women's coats online happy to get involved and help out. We received incredibly generous offers which helped us with the venue and the catering. I was actually shocked by how easy it was to arrange the event," comments Stollman.

The enthusiasm of local businesses didn't end there; according to Beth Stollman, upon hearing about the event, the tickets were easily sold to local business men and women, as well as local residents and local professionals working in the area. More than 200 tickets were bought in less than two weeks. "I believe the success of the event can be attributed to the fact that we genuinely offered the participants something in return, something that was beneficial and enjoyable for them too," remarks Stollman.

About Beth Stollman
Beth Stollman was born in Austin, Texas, and moved to San Diego more than 20 years ago after graduating from high school. A keen nature lover and self confessed 'fitness fanatic', she has been actively involved in community awareness and community sporting projects for the past 10 years. After pursuing a career in retail purchasing for more than 12 years, Beth Stollman set up her own online retail business a little less than 5 years ago. The successful business has given her the flexibility she was seeking to allow her the freedom to spend more time on her sporting, community and charitable projects.

Clothing may make the man, but fashionable men know accessories complete the look. The New York Times reports that men are wild for accessories. Purchases of men's jewelry and accessories in the last half of 2011 fueled sales up 14% to nearly $6 billion, it says, adding that men's bracelets are at the top of the list of must-haves.
